Finally getting to the vacation photos

As you may recall, I have a massive amount of vacation photos from our trip last fall.  Midst the craziness of moving I was able to come up with a plan of attack and get all of the photos I'll be scrapping printed.  I'll show you in a later post how I'm dealing with the album overall, with around 1000 photos to scrap, but here's the page I started with.  I'm not scrapping the photos in any particular order, but they will go in the book divided by city.

Accountability Wednesday...on Thursday

Sorry I'm a bit late on Accountability Wednesday, folks.  You see, where some of my posts are pre-written and scheduled to appear here on my little blog at 8 am sharp, I actually write and post Accountability Wednesday posts after I weigh in on Wednesday mornings.  So sometimes, like yesterday, things get in the way of me posting precisely on Wednesday.  Yesterday I had a work meeting all day, and I just didn't get it done.  Sorry about that.  But I did have good news on the scale yesterday morning.  I know that moving more is helping with that, and I also know that my Mardi Gras party tomorrow night will set me back some next week.  But I know there will be setbacks.  It's easier though to know what the setback was that caused a bad weigh in vs. those mysterious gains when you've done everything right that week.  Those are the most frustrating!  But anywho, here we go:

Weight: 140.6 (-1.2 lbs) -- Woo hoo!
Exercise: Walk 25 min. x2, Stationary Bike 20 min., 30 Day Shred 25 min.

Digging Into the Stash

I'm really trying hard to keep my New Years resolution to use my stash and not shop until June.  It's hard with all of the adorable sneak peeks from spring CHA.  My Minds Eye - you are keeelllling me!  I may have placed one small pre-order.  Sigh.

Back in October my sister and I did a 5 mile Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk.  I was so proud of myself for making it all 5 miles.  Mark helped me get off my lazy butt and train the entire month.  My back didn't hurt at all after!

2 for the Cure

Supplies:  really old papers from American Crafts, Making Memories, Heidi Swapp, and Hambly.  Sticker letters from Echo Park and Pink Paislee.  My Minds Eye journaling card cut from a Halloween line.  Prima
flower.

Accountability Wednesday, a Sale, and a Coupon Code

Well, so much for my big loss last week.  I've eaten better and exercised more, and gained nearly all of that loss back.  My only hope is that it's from lingering salt from a restaurant meal Monday night that was overall fairly healthy.  And the couple of doughnuts I fell prey to at the office last week.  On a positive note, I met my goal of working out 4 times a week.  I guess I'll keep on trucking and maybe next week will be better.

Weight: 141.8 lbs. (+1.8)
Exercise: Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred x2, 1.5 mile Walk x2

I have a couple of things I want to share with you.  First, you know my love for Ella Publishing's e-books.  Three of their books are on sale this month.  They are each $2 off, which is a great deal.

Eight is Enough shows you how to stretch your supplies.

Double Page Design - great for all those double page layout ideas

Also, my favorite scrapbook store, Stop and Scrap, is making it difficult for me to stay on my low-buy.  They are taking pre-orders for all the new CHA goodies that will be out soon.  I'm having trouble keeping my hands off of the new My Minds Eye lines, and today they are taking orders for two new Authentique lines:

And here's the best part: Stop and Scrap is giving my readers 12% off any purchase, including the CHA pre-orders.  You can use this code any time and as many times as you would like, so have fun!  For 12% off any purchase, use the code FEATHERS.

Quilting Your Scrapbook Pages

Ever get inspiration from places you wouldn't think?  Like advertisements, catalogs, or even quilts?  Shimmelle challenged us to do just that.  I broke into one of my many 6x6 pads for this one.

Where the Magic Happens Revisited, and Resolutions

Behind this door?  My new scrapbook room!  A long, long time ago I gave you a tour of where I do my creating.  My new room is a great improvement!  Technically it's the office in the house, so there's no closet, but I don't have to share it with the exercise bike any more.  The space is mine, all mine!

It's no Pottery Barn catalog, but it's functional, and best of all, cost less than $250 for the furniture.  I'm using one of the dining room chairs right now, so all I really lack is a chair.

I'm using plastic folding tables, which is great because they're roomy and I'm not afraid of getting ink or paint on them.

The small table hold my Silhouette and the printer, and the laptop is stationed permanently in the corner, so maybe I'll use my Silhouette more since its more accessible.  My big divided binder of scraps lives under the table.

I got this awesome corkboard on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $10.

My sewing area.  My bin of scrap fabrics and sewing supplies is under the table, and that's my scanner to the left.  We only use it occasionally, so it can be kept in its box.  Who knows, maybe I'll use my machine to sew on a layout or two.  My fabric stash lives in my grandmother's hope chest at the end of the master bed.  Oh, and what's that on the table?  New layouts, maybe??

Punch storage.  Much better than a cardboard box.

Across from the desk are 3 metal shelving units from Lowe's.  These bad boys don't need tools to put them together, hold something like 150 lbs. per shelf, and can be anchored to the wall.  Ignore the big black cable in the middle.  I'll have a TV and DVD player soon.

These shelves hold all of my supplies and completed scrapbooks.  I fond some awesome bins and magazine holders in the $1 Spot at Target in teal, pink, silver and black.  Eventually I'll paint my other baskets to match.

Buttons, mists, and tapes. 8 1/2x 11 cardstock to the left.

12x12 cardstock and patterned paper stash.  I'm moving slowly but surely to Cropper Hoppers, but only Hobby Lobby carries those here, and they only keep 3 in stock at a time,

Those nifty Target bins again.  They hold my inks, paints, glitter, and embossing supplies, as well as some of my stickers and journaling spots.

My sketch books, Cuttlebug, dies and embossing folders.

Twine, rubber stamps, and alcohol inks.  I've moved my acrylic and unmounted rubber stamps to binders using these.

Chipboard in the totes, flowers in the jars, and a dish of glitter.

And a bowl of glitter - stickles.  More flowers and a basket of wet adhesives.

On the left, my 6x6 and 6x8 paper pads, and on the right, my husbands old tool nick-nack holder thing that now holds my small loose embellishments.  My Xyron machines are hidden behind. Oh, and more flowers.  I really need to use some of those.

A bin full of bling and a tote of brads and buttons.  And more flowers.

In moving from having all my scrap supplies in boxes to having them out in broad daylight, I've realized exactly how much I have, which is A LOT. So one of my resolutions for 2012 is a scrappy spending freeze.  My sis and I want to go to a Scrapbook Expo in June, so my goal is nothing but adhesive and page protectors until then.  That, and one or two new 3 ring binder albums.  One of my overstuffed post-bounds exploded in the move.  Just for fun, here's all of my 2012 resolutions:

1. Scrappy spending freeze through June.
2. Read 15 books.
3. Lose 15 pounds.
4. Exercise 4 times a week.
5. Keep the house clean and uncluttered.

I know this was a long post, and maybe hopefully you got some good ideas for organizing your room.  If you have any questions about anything, please post and I'll answer!

Accountability Wednesday: Moving More, Eating Well

Now that the dust has settled from all of my work trips and moving and such, I'm recommitted to losing weight and keeping it off.  I've found a few great sources of motivation: the Jillian Michaels podcast, upcoming trips to Disney and Miami, and the wonderful community at Cathy Zielske's new BPC class, Move More Eat Well 2012.  I'm re-incorporating fitness into my regular routine, and I did some form of activity 4 days in the last week.  I know it will be slow going, and (with Mardi Gras right around the corner) there will be setbacks, but I'm committed this time.

Weight: 140 (-2.2 lbs)
Activity: Pilates (30 min.), Walk (20 min.), Stationary Bike (20 min.), Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred (20 painful minutes)

What, I'm supposed to be blogging?

The last couple of months have been quite a whirlwind.  Just before Thanksgiving I came home from a work trip to this:

And by the week after Thanksgiving, we were putting in an offer on this:

Ten days before Christmas, we closed on the new house and moved in.  Here's what it looked like on moving day:

I did put up our Christmas stockings on the mantle, but that was the only sign of the holiday season this year.  I almost had to take my mom and sister up on their offers to wrap my Christmas presents for me. Luckily, I was off for work for two weeks around Christmas and New Years, so I was able to get a lot of unpacking done.  Our goal is to be done with the major unpacking, etc. by the end of this coming weekend.  With all the clutter gone, we can finally relax and enjoy our new home.

And here we are, less than 30 days later, and we are mostly unpacked.  I'm not done decorating yet, so pardon the work in progress.  And at least it is progress.

Finally - I can display my vintage Fiesta ware collection.

My pantry...I LOVE my pantry!

My corner collage.  I stole the idea from this pin.  I've got a photo canvas on order that will replace the lovely sheet of copier paper.

The entry way.

The dining room.  This is going to be our bar area.

And what's behind this door?  Hmmmm... come back Friday and see!
