Another Photo Collage Example

In my series on scrapbooking large events, I talked about how I like to use photo collages to get several pictures on one layout.  This layout is another example of how I do that.  Here, I fit 6 photos on a one page layout.  That's a lot of photos for one page, but it still feels simple and uncluttered. Not to mention how it saves space!

Using My Scraps

For my travel albums, I want to create some continuity across so many layouts, so I pull papers and embellishments that I can use throughout the album.  This leaves me with lots of scraps, but I like to use as many as I can, both for the continuity and because I need to use some things up!  The sketch I used for this layout was great for using up some of those scraps.

I Love a Good Challenge

Normally when I scrap a layout, I like to make my own kit of sorts, picking out products from different manufacturers that look good together.  But I also like a good challenge, and the folks over at the Lily Bee blog gave me a good one!  Using their sketch and products, here's what I came up with.  Even thought there are several collections on the layout, I love that they all coordinate seamlessly.

Digging through the stash

Aw, come on, admit it.  If you are a scrapbooker, more than likely you have a stash, with paper and embellishements that go WAYYY back.  You are not alone.  With this layout (yes, another one featuring the Cat), I dug into my stash and used some old old papers.  Just because they are a few years old, doesn't mean they aren't still beautiful!  I challenge you to dig into your stash and use some of that old stuff.  It feels really good!

Cute Kitten
I love the light feel of this layout.  Because I used a lot of older papers and scraps, I don't have all the names of the patterned papers.  Sorry about that.

Missing How Things Used to Be

I was a very lucky girl growing up.  My family owned a small cottage at the beach, where I spend pretty much every weekend and all summer.  But I didn’t know how lucky I was.  You see, I just thought it was the normal thing to do: pack up every Friday after Mr. Rogers and go for a 2 hour drive, to spend the weekend playing in the sand and never changing out of my bathing suit.  To scoop up crabs and catch shrimp and boil them that night for dinner the next.
But time and age took its toll, and the house took many beatings from hurricanes.  Beach houses, even small, 1 bathroom cottages, are expensive to fix and to keep.  So it was sold.  And with it went an innocent, simple time before tremendous coastal development where we were the only ones for miles on the beach.  Beach houses involve a very different way of life now.

The See Me Ridin’, They Hatin’

Before this year, I had never rode in a limousine.  I didn’t go to prom, we went budget for our wedding, and I could just never talk Mark into renting one to drive us around in Las Vegas!  All that changed this year when a bunch of friends and I got together and rented a stretch SUV for an event we went to.  Yay, I’m a limo virgin no more!
For the first time I used My Minds Eye stamps from the Stella and Dot line, and I am in love!  Beautiful, clear, crisp images right out of the package.  Color me impressed.

Just like the Old Spice guy

This is one of my favorite commercials EVAH!

And just like the Old Spice Guy, in these pictures, I’m on a horse!

Back at Old Time Farm Day 2010, someone brought their ponies for the kids to ride.  Being a big kid, I made my darling husband ask the guy if it was OK for me to ride.  See, I’ve been asking  Mark for years now to take me riding (and for a pony with a patch over one eye and blue and silver plumes that I would name Mony Mony) and he has yet to do it.  So for asking he got a free pass for another year.

I’m on a Horse!

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.  I had a piece of this silver rubon laying around, I guess for too long, because it wouldn’t rub off.  So I just used it like a transparency!

Today's Post is Brought to You by: the Color Red

The Color!  Or is it Colour?  class over at Big Picture Classes is off to a great start!  Our first color assignment was red, and it was suggested we use it as an accent on a more neutral page.  I love red, so this one wasn't a great challenge for me, but it was a challenge to find only red and neutral embellishments in my stash!
