Incorporating Ephemera: Part II

So I guess I'm not done talking about ephemera in our scrapbooking.  I really like being able to keep business cards or brochures with the names of hotels, restaurants, and businesses that we visited on our trips, in case we want to go back to them in the future, or so I can recommend them to friends.  It's almost like having a gigantic Rolodex with photos and notes included!

Here I incorporated the business card from our Prague hotel into an embellishment cluster.  Even though the colors don't go with the layout too well, because its part of the embellishment it doesn't stand out too much on the layout.

Disclaimer: I know ephemera isn't acid free.  Because I'm using prints of digital photos, I'm not worried about the prints getting damaged over time.  The digital photos will persist.

Another Photo Collage Example

In my series on scrapbooking large events, I talked about how I like to use photo collages to get several pictures on one layout.  This layout is another example of how I do that.  Here, I fit 6 photos on a one page layout.  That's a lot of photos for one page, but it still feels simple and uncluttered. Not to mention how it saves space!

St. George and the Dragon

The legend of St. George and the Dragon was important in Prague and in Budapest.  I wanted to take home the beautiful jewel-encrusted box/statue at the Hungarian National Museum, but it wasn't for sale!

Using Your Stash is Fun!

May Flaum is one of my favorite scrapbookers.  She has a fun, irreverent style, and is a great teacher to boot!  I’m taking her class, Adventures in Scrapbooking: Use Your Stash, right now at Big Picture Scrapbooking.  The premise of the class is to take out your pictures, grab stuff from your stash, and USE YOUR STUFF to SCRAPBOOK.  What a concept! Stop hoarding all the stuff you bought and use it for what you bought it for, and capture your memories to boot!

The class is great fun, and we’re starting the third of four weeks.  I’ll be sad when it’s over.  But there’s been tons of inspirations and challenges that I haven’t been able to get to, so I’ll be going back to this information for a long time to come!

One challenge was to use neutral cardstock to scrap an everyday picture.  Here’s my version. Ozzy makes an appearance:
