A Scraplifted Layout

A few weeks ago Shimelle hosted an online crop on her blog.  I wasn't able to participate at the time, but a few of the challenges spoke to me.  One of which was to scrapbook a specific layout here.  I liked it and thought it would be great for these photos from last summer.

Since I've recently jumped on the Washi Tape bandwagon (with both feet AND my wallet!)  I'm trying to use it a bit more.  Here I covered some chipboard letters with the tape, and I love the way it looks.

Some Echo Park Play

Echo Park's new line Note to Self is some kind of awesome.  I had a great time playing with this fun, retro line making a page about Ozzy the Cat and his new "friend" that visits our back porch.

 Frenemies

I realized I needed a pop of navy blue at the top of the page, but didn't want anything very wide.  Then I noticed the overprint on the borders on the sticker sheet.  The blue zig zag sticker over ran with the subtle brown stripe of the scallop, and made a perfect little banner to boot!

I used my nonstick small scissors to snip the little parts on the ends that connected it to the rest of the sticker sheet background, and voila!  A new, perfect little border sticker!

Supplies: American Crafts Cardstock, Thickers (Hatbox), Zing embossing powder ; Echo Park Note to Self (Element Stickers, Grid Dots, Arrows, Borders), Dots and Stripes Alpha Stickers, This and That Charming Brads; For the Record (Noteworthy);  My Minds Eye Miss Caroline Dolled Up 6x6 pad; the Girls' Paperie market trims (kitch); Maya Road buttons; Studio Calico Mr. Huey (Calico Cream); Tim Holtz Distress Ink  (Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Fired Brick); Distress Stickles

Halloween is on its way

Although I'm not decorating the house for Halloween this year due to the current state of chaos that comprises my house from renovations, I couldn't resist taking a stab at my take on an altered printers tray.  People have posted lots of beautiful ones, like on this post.  The example that really got my heart racing was this one created by the incredibly talented Kerri Bradford:

So I ordered a 7gypsies tray in black, dug out my Halloween paper scraps, and downloaded a bunch of cute Halloween designs for the Silhouette.  Because I used scraps, I can't really tell you exactly what products I used, but I know there was alot of Basic Grey Eerie papers and rubons, some My Minds Eye and Making Memories papers, and lots of Martha Stewart glitter and Tim Holtz Rock Candy stickles and crackle paints.

Here's the big reveal!

I thought it might be next Halloween before I got this thing finished!

If you want to know what a specific item is, just ask and I'll try my best to remember!

A Blast from the Past

Does anybody remember the World's Fair?  Once upon a time, they were THE premier events in the world, and they only happened every four years.  Back in 1984, New Orleans hosted the World's Fair, and my parents and I traveled the two hours to visit.  I still have vivid memories of the Fair, and how exotic all the booths of the various countries seemed.

I came across a picture of my dad and I at the Fair in a giant stack of photos from my childhood that I have to scrap.

I have no idea what pavilion it was taken in, or what that car is supposed to be.

Christine Middlecamp had inspired me with her layering techniques, and I'm trying to incorporate that more into my pages.

Supplies used:
Basic Grey: patterned paper, sticker numbers; Making Memories: chipboard shapes, Pink Paislee: chipboard letters; Maya Road: chipboard; Elle's Studio: journaling tag; KI Memories: chipboard shape; Tim Holtz: Grungeboard; Bazzill: cardstock; unknown brand: felt sticker shape; brads

Tools used:
Dew Drop VersaMagic ink; Tim Holtz Distress Stickles; Diamond Glaze

Using Your Stash is Fun!

May Flaum is one of my favorite scrapbookers.  She has a fun, irreverent style, and is a great teacher to boot!  I’m taking her class, Adventures in Scrapbooking: Use Your Stash, right now at Big Picture Scrapbooking.  The premise of the class is to take out your pictures, grab stuff from your stash, and USE YOUR STUFF to SCRAPBOOK.  What a concept! Stop hoarding all the stuff you bought and use it for what you bought it for, and capture your memories to boot!

The class is great fun, and we’re starting the third of four weeks.  I’ll be sad when it’s over.  But there’s been tons of inspirations and challenges that I haven’t been able to get to, so I’ll be going back to this information for a long time to come!

One challenge was to use neutral cardstock to scrap an everyday picture.  Here’s my version. Ozzy makes an appearance:

Butterfly Love
