How I'm Feeling Today

Some news and a holiday break

You may have noticed a lack sharing of scrapbook pages here over the last couple of weeks.  I know that is probably why most of you visit my blog, and I apologize for it.  But I have a very good reason:  In the past three weeks, we have sold our house and found a great new one!  One with a dedicated space for me a craft room!

The big moving day is next week, followed fast on its heels by the holidays.  I'm going back and forth between excited and nervous and anxiety attacks.  I'm spending all of my time (when I'm not packing) on Pinterest marking ideas for organization and decoration projects.  But I'm not scrapbooking, mostly because my stash is totally packed away.

I'm hoping to drop in over the next few weeks and give updates, but I make no promises.  I'll be back for the new year, scrapping all those vacation photos that I've already shown you.  Until then, does anybody have any suggestions for scrapbooking a move?

I've Been to Baltimore

By now you're probably sick of seeing trip photos and are really more interested in the scrapbook pages I'm putting them on.  Unfortunately, until I get done with all of this travel, I don't really have time to scrapbook them!  At least I'm working on getting them printed so I can scrap when I have time!

Back in August I went to Baltimore for a conference.  It was my first time there, and I stayed in the Inner Harbor.  It was really nice.

I'm fascinated by old ships and anything nautical.  I guess its in my blood.  My family is a Navy family and has worked in shipbuilding for a couple of generations.

Of course, I wouldn't mind sailing on one of these, either.

I had an extra afternoon and went to the National Aquarium.  Having a Marine Biology degree, I'm also in love with anything that has marine critters.

Bohemia, Bavaria, and Beer, Part VI: The Weis'n

Find Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V

You are probably asking "you were in Munich during Oktoberfest and you didn't go?  And your husband loves beer?  What is wrong with you?"  Don't be silly, of course we went to the Weis'n, and the Munich-ers call it!

All of the major breweries have what we'll loosely call "tents".  I say loosely because these are permanent building that are roughly the size of Congress. You cannot eat or drink in the tents  without a reservation, and you must have a minimum of 10 friends and family to eat and drink with you.

But you can easily get a table outside in the beer garden. They only serve beer in Litres.  Because who would need anything less than a Litre?

And luckily they pipe the oompa band music outside to the beer gardens.

The food is excellent.  If you have the chance to eat homemade warm Bavarian pretzels, I highly recommend it.

The ponies bring in the brew.

Its really a very small area that holds very many people.  We were there on a Tuesday afternoon.  I can't imagine what this would look like on a Saturday night.

So that about does it.  I actually took about 1200 pictures.  I'm hoping to have them all edited and printed so I can start scrapping them by my Christmas break.  Wish me luck!

Accountability Wednesday: Success??

3.5 lbs.  That's what I'm down this week.  Wow.  I haven't been that low since August.

I took the Adipex for all of 3 days before my husband suggested I not take it anymore.  It rocked my world, and not in a good way.  But I guess that it, combined with the resulting three-day fast and overall decreased appetite this week shook something loose in my metabolism.  I'm trying to take advantage of this by decreasing my overall calorie intake and increasing my exercise level.  Maybe this will do it.  Maybe this time it will stick.

Weight: 137.4 (-3.5)
Activity: Bike - 45 minutes; 10 pushups

Bohemia, Bavaria, and Beer, Part V: Bavaria and Castles

Find Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV

Are you tired of my vacation yet?

Our last day, we took a bus tour to Kin Ludwig's Fantasy Castles, with a short stop in Oberammergau, home of the Passion Play.  The scenery in Bavaria is like a postcard around every turn.

I took as many photos in the one day as I had an any three days before.  Mark made me quit taking pictures of Bavarian cows.

We stopped at Linderhoff castle.  It was very small, but gorgeous, especially the gardens.

The star of the show was Schloss Neuschwanstein.  Walt Disney based Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World on this castle.  See the similarities?

The castle was up in the mountains, so instead of a 25 minute climb, we took a horse cart.  I'm from south Alabama.  To me, a mountain is anything over 12 feet high.  This was way more than that.

This was my favorite day of the trip.  I can't wait to go back and visit Salzberg and the Romantic Road.

And finally...Part VI: The Weis'n
